Tokyo Crusaders Thanks to all who came out to support us against Itochu today. It was a tough day at the office with a threadbare squad after some expected late withdrawals from last nights Tokyo Sevens mayhem! Let’s hope that Pat regains use of his hand again and Derek recovers from his sprained ankle! With Cru original Stuart on board we took on the young and well drilled Itochu Company team. Their fast handling and speed in the backs proved too much for an inexperienced Cru line up and a shaky first line of defence was under the cosh in the first half from all areas. In the second half the defence improved and we managed to stem the flow of points, Geo, Stu, Rich and Terry in particular getting stuck into every ruck and showing true Cru spirit. We ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard but kept battling away to the end with our newest and least experienced players leading the way which augers well for the future. MVP- went to old boy Stuart for a storming performance only 7 years after his last game of rugby, also for the Cru! He showed the youngsters the way its done, hats off! Was great to hear the Cru song sung proudly, loudly and off key once again! Heres to 21 more glorious years of the Cru!
