September 20-22 (Friday to Sunday) – Sapporo Tour, Yokohama long lunch

This will be an informal tour up to Sapporo to watch Australia vs Fiji on Saturday and/or England vs Tonga on Sunday. No matches scheduled for us to play, just a trip with the lads.

For those who plan to be Tokyo/Yokohama based, we will be holding a long lunch in Yokohama on the 22nd before heading off to the stadium or pub to watch Ireland vs Scotland. We  may be handing out a few awards, and there will be an audio/video presentation running in the background for you to remember your years of playing in the club. Also the latest club stash will be available for purchase. All visitors and old boys, friends and family welcome to join. Time/venue/cost TBA.

September 28 (Sunday) – Yokohama long lunch

The second long lunch we will be hosting will be before the Japan vs Ireland match. We’ll convene in a venue near the stadium for the usual round of speeches and presentations, then off to the stadium or pub to watch the match. All visitors and old boys, friends and family welcome to join. Time/venue/cost TBA.

October 5 (Saturday) – exhibition matches (competitive).

Our match will be part of a 3-match exhibition event on the day. Visitors are welcome to participate, pending availability. We just ask that you wear black rugby shorts and purchase and wear a pair of club socks for JPY 1,500. Matches will begin at 10:00 and finish at 14:00, which leaves just enough time for ticket holders of the England vs Argentina match to get to the stadium before kickoff. For those not attending the match at the stadium there will be a big gathering in PapaBamp, a sports bar in nearby Matsudo, to watch the match on the big screen.

Location: Sankei Sports Ground

Nearest Station: Misato-Chuo (Tsukuba Express Line)

October 6 (Sunday) – friendly match (semi-competitive)

We will be playing a match vs London Japanese, sort of a touring/home side hybrid, if you will. Visitors are welcome to participate, pending availability. We just ask that you wear black rugby shorts and purchase and wear a pair of club socks for JPY 1,500. Time and venue TBA.

October 13 (Sunday) – Old Boys match (non-competitive), long lunch

This match will be against an opposition of mostly over-40s. So, if you are a Cru Old Boy and/or you have a young son who would like to take the pitch for the club, this would be the match for you. After the match in the morning we will take a chartered bus into town to attend the long lunch. Here we will be regaled by speeches from days of yore, pass out a few awards, and generally wax nostalgic about our days with the club. Participation is not just limited to club members and old boys, however – guests of all stripe are also encouraged to attend. Afterward, those who have match tickets will head off to the stadium, while the remainder will re-convene in a nearby pub to watch on television. Specific times, locations and cost will be announced soon.
