Rather than explain for you, we’d like to let the man himself explain his newest adventure! From Matt Sparrow: I will be taking on the Sea-to-Summit Challenge next month. I will make my way down to the beach at Fuji city on Saturday 10th August; starting the hike in the evening, and finishing on Sunday evening. The hike comes in at around 60km (50km up 10km down) and climbs the full vertical 3776m of Mt. Fuji. Most people do the hike over four days, some have done it in around 27-30 hours. I am aiming in under 20 hours. Why on Earth would I do this??!! Well this grueling hike is to raise money for the very worthy charity – Shine On Kids. Childhood cancer is the number one cause of death for children in Japan after accidents. A child is diagnosed with cancer in Japan about once every 3-4 hours each day. Children undergoing treatment for cancer in Japan are generally hospitalized for a long time – 6 months to one year or more. This puts an incredible burden on the patients and the family. The organization aims to support the family from diagnosis, throughout treatment, and after discharge from hospital. I hope that you will consider contributing to this campaign.
